How does the AI background remover work?

The AI model analyzes the image and creates a foreground mask. The mask is then converted into transparency so that the subject can be placed on a new background.

Background removal on mobile

The application is designed to work on modern mobile browsers as well as desktop browsers. You can select an image directly from your phone and see the original image immediately before starting the AI process.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

The AI processing is performed directly in your browser. The application does not need to upload the image to a background-removal server.

This application uses ONNX Runtime Web and the IS-Net general-use ONNX model.
ONNX Runtime Web is distributed under the MIT License.
IS-Net general-use model weights are distributed under the Apache License 2.0.
